Heart is a rock band whose founding members came from Seattle, Washington, USA in the early 1970s. The group rose to fame in the 1970s with their music being influenced by hard rock as well as folk music. After diminishing in popularity for a couple of years in the early 80s, the band enjoyed a massive comeback in 1985, experiencing further successes with their power ballads and pop hits throughout the rest of that decade and into the 90s.

Weezer - Death of False Metal (2010)

Weezer is an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1992. The band consists of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums, guitar, backing vocals), Brian Bell (guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), and Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals, keyboards). The band has changed lineups several times since its formation in 1992. They have released eight full-length albums, six EPs, and a DVD. Weezer has sold over nine million records in the US to date.

The band is best known for their successful singles "Buddy Holly", "Undone - The Sweater Song", "Island in the Sun", "Beverly Hills", "Pork and Beans" and "Say It Ain't So". The band's eighth studio album, Hurley, was released on September 14, 2010 on Epitaph Records. Weezer had their first practice on February 14, 1992, and their first gig was opening for Keanu Reeves' band Dogstar shortly thereafter. Weezer signed with Geffen Records on June 25, 1993 and recorded their debut album with producer Ric Ocasek at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. During the recording, guitarist Jason Cropper left the band and was replaced by Brian Bell. The band released Weezer (also referred to as "The Blue Album") in May 1994. The record label originally did not wish to release a single, to see what sales could be generated by word-of-mouth alone. Soon after the release of Weezer, DJ Marco Collins of the Seattle radio station The End started playing "Undone - The Sweater Song" after being urged by Chris Swenson (manager of Seattle pop-punk band Flop), leading Geffen to release "Undone - The Sweater Song" as the first official single. The music video was directed by Spike Jonze. Filmed in an unbroken take, it featured Weezer performing on a sound stage with various amusing studio antics, including a pack of dogs swarming the set. The video became an instant hit on MTV.

Weezer - Death of False Metal (2010)
Death to False Metal is Weezer's ninth album. It is a collection of previously unreleased songs, released on November 2, 2010. The project, originally known as Odds and Ends was first mentioned by Brian Bell on KROQ when Weezer performed on Kevin and Bean's morning show during the summer of 2008. Rivers Cuomo said that the tracks are "great songs, great recordings, but for some reason they didn't make the final cut for a record. And like the Alone record, they span a vast period of time from the very beginning of our career in the early '90s right up to the present day. But I have no idea when that would come out. It's just another fun project to do." The album was simultaneously released with the deluxe edition of Pinkerton.

Savoy Brown - The Savoy Brown Collection (1993)

With one of the smoothest and most compelling guitarists of the blues-rock style, Savoy Brown and the finger wizardry of Kim Simmonds unleashed some of the smoothest and most mesmerizing rock & roll of the 1970s. Their ingenious blend of contented blues and hard-edged rock resulted in some wholesome yet somewhat bypassed guitar music.

Savoy Brown, originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, are a British blues band formed in 1966, in Battersea, South West London. Part of the late 1960s blues rock movement, Savoy Brown never achieved as much success in their homeland as they did in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring. The band was formed and led by guitarist Kim Simmonds, whose dominating personality led to a myriad of personnel changes. Others have attributed the constant lineup adjustments to the "creative accountancy" employed by the band's manager, Harry Simmonds, brother of Kim.

The original line-up included singer Bryce Portius, keyboardist Bob Hall, fellow guitarist Martin Stone, bassist Ray Chappell, harmonica player John O'Leary and drummer Leo Manning. Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band. This line-up appeared on the band's 1967 debut album, Shake Down, a collection of blues covers. Two albums followed in 1968, Getting to the Point, and Blue Matter.

In 1969 a single "Train to Nowhere" was released with a vastly different lineup, including singer Chris Youlden, who, with Simmons, took over primary songwriting duties for the band, on A Step Further that year.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Savoy Brown - The Savoy Brown Collection (1993)
The Savoy Brown Collection is a two-disc compilation that takes their best tunes from 14 different albums and presents the listener with a sufficient amount of material that never becomes tiresome. Some of the meatier material comes from 1971's Street Corner Talking, like the ultra-smooth "I Can't Get Next to You" and Willie Dixon's "Wang Dang Doodle." Equally impressive is the haunting "Poor Girl" or the desperate guitar cry of "Leavin' Again," both from the sensational Looking In album. The real treasures are the lone tunes taken from some of their lesser-known albums. "I'm Tired," from A Step Further, emanates pathos through instrumentation, while "Stranger Blues" is a startling example of prime guitar manipulation. Early material from albums like Shake Down and Blue Matter have former lead singer Chris Youlden at the helm, who departed before the Looking In album, replaced by Lonesome Dave Peverett who later formed Foghat. Overshadowed by bands like the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin, Savoy Brown didn't get the acclaim they actually deserved. Rightfully so, the words "Featuring Kim Simmonds" are underneath the title of this two CD set, since his craftsmanship is truly the heart of this talented band. Everything that is even the least bit important from this group is strewn across this compilation.

Jan Cyrka - Beyond the Common Ground (1992)

Jan Cyrka is a British guitar player. In the early 80s Cyrka formed a band in London called The Broadway Metal Choir. The line-up featured himself on guitar, Kevin Riddles (bass, ex-Angelwitch; Tytan), Kevin Fitzpatrick (keyboards) and Andy Beirne (drums). Unlikely vocalist Max Gelt- a deli owner from Florida- was drafted in on vocals, but after six weeks of touring he broke his leg and returned to Miami. The band released an album in 1985 called 'And God Gave Us Max', but split soon afterwards. After they broke up, most of the band returned to session work, but Cyrka was then to spend three years in Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction (under the name Flash Bastard). After a support slot with Guns & Roses, Cyrka left the band to focus on solo work. He released his critically acclaimed debut, "Beyond The Common Ground," in 1992. The track "Western Eyes" was used as the theme to the Radio 1 Rock Show.

REO Speedwagon - Find Your Own Way Home (2007)

REO Speedwagon is an American rock band from Champaign, Illinois, United States. Formed in 1967, the band grew in popularity during the 1970s and peaked in the early 1980s. Some of their more well-known songs are "Ridin' the Storm Out" and "Roll with the Changes", as well as 1980s power ballads "Keep On Loving You" and "Can't Fight This Feeling". Their 1980 album Hi Infidelity is the group's most commercially successful album, selling over ten million copies and charting four Top 40 hits in the US. Over the course of its career, the band has sold more than forty million records and has charted thirteen Top 40 hits. REO Speedwagon's popularity has declined over the years but the band still tours regularly, and remains popular on the fair and casino circuits and teams up with other acts to play larger venues.

REO Speedwagon took its name from the REO Speed Wagon, a flatbed truck and fire engine, manufactured by the REO Motor Car Company. ("R.E.O." are initials of the company's founder, Ransom Eli Olds, who also founded Oldsmobile, once a division of General Motors.) REO Speedwagon was formed by students attending the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, in the fall of 1967 to play cover songs in campus bars.

Starting out with their equipment being hauled to dates in a friend's used Chevy REO Oldsmobile station wagon, REO played bars all over the Midwest. They named the band after his truck. The band's debut album, REO Speedwagon, was released on Epic Records in 1971. The most popular track on this record was "157 Riverside Avenue". The title refers to the Westport, Connecticut, address where the band stayed while recording in Leka's studio in nearby Bridgeport, and remains an in-concert favorite.

Although the rest of the band's line-up remained stable, REO Speedwagon switched lead vocalists three times for their first three albums. Luttrell left the band in early 1972, eventually becoming the vocalist for Starcastle. He was replaced by Kevin Cronin. And the rest is history.

"Smilin' in the End" was released at the same time as "I Needed to Fall" to classic rock stations, but did not chart. The third single from the album--the title track--reached #23 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.

Also released in a limited edition package including "XM Artist Confidential", a live DVD recorded at the XM Performance Theatre in Washington, D.C., and the live CD "High Infidelity Then Again...Live", also recorded at the XM Performance Theatre in Washington, D.C. Great White - Once Bitten (1987)

Great White is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles in 1978. The band gained popularity during the 1980s and early 1990s. The band released several albums in the late 1980s and gained airplay on MTV with music videos for songs like "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". The band reached their peak popularity with the album ...Twice Shy in 1989.

The band continued to release new material into the 1990s, although none of their material charted in the United States. In 2003, the band made headlines when The Station nightclub fire led to the deaths of 100 people in West Warwick, Rhode Island, including the band's guitarist Ty Longley, who had been a member of the band for three years.Great White made a comeback in 2007 with the release of a new album and an accompanying tour.

Great White started life as Dante Fox, playing their first gig in 1981 at The Troubadour in Hollywood. After recording several demos, the band took on Alan Niven as manager, Niven having worked for independent distributor Greenworld (which dealt with Mötley Crüe's debut self-release) in Torrance, California. Greenworld released Great White's eponymous debut in 1984. Shot in the Dark, their follow-up independent release, marked the arrival of drummer Audie Desbrow. By the time Capitol Records signed the band and reissued Shot in the Dark, keyboardist-guitarist Michael Lardie had come aboard. After the release of Shot in the Dark, Great White hit the road with Dokken and was on the verge of even bigger success.

Great White - Once Bitten (1987)

System Of A Down - Mezmerize (2005)

System Of A Down - Mezmerize (2005)
Mezmerize is the fourth studio album by American rock band System of a Down. It is the first half of the Mezmerize/Hypnotize double album. It was released on May 17, 2005, six months before Hypnotize. Despite the time difference between releases, the album actually takes its name from the lyrics in the song "Hypnotize"; Mezmerize and Hypnotize were recorded within the same time frame. The album features guitarist Daron Malakian sharing most of the vocal work with vocalist Serj Tankian, splitting the vocals at least halfway on most of the tracks.

The album debuted at number one in at least twelve countries, including the US Billboard 200, and has since been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

Xcarnation - Grounded (2005)

XCARNATION is a project set up by Turkish composer, guitarist, arranger and producer Cenk Eroglu. Being the son of an accomplished conductor, arranger and jazz pianist, he became involved with music at a very early age. During the last 15 years he has produced many albums in his home country, but he has also released two solo albums so far: one in 1991 and another in 1996.

After the release of his second solo album, he started working on a new project with the aim to integrate heavy rock and electronic sounds into a synthesis of Eastern and Western music. Materializing this aim however covered a long period of time, during which he stumbled upon two musicians who had inspired him previously: Pat Mastellotto (King Crimson) and Kip Winger. By the time he met Kip (in 2002), he had finalized his new sound and named it Xcarnation. “Grounded” was recorded with the help of 13 musicians and among them you’ll find the complete line-up of Winger: Kip Winger on lead and background vocals, bass and acoustic guitar, Reb Beach on guitar and Rod Morgenstein (next to the above-mentioned Pat Mastellotto) on drums. Don’t expect highly accessible rock like Winger served us in the past however, because this is totally other stuff. Admitted, thanks to the help of Turkish musicians, Eroglu has indeed succeeded in finding that balance between Eastern and Western music, but the question remains: who was waiting for such a ‘strange’ album? Personally, I don’t think I will play this album much in the future again. Even the (alternative) lead vocals of Kip Winger – a man I admired so much in the past – won’t convince me to do so. Too bad…

Born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1967, as the son of an accomplished conductor, arranger and jazz pianist, Cenk Eroglu became involved with music at a very early age. During his teenage years, he spent most of his time writing, playing and recording music, which initiated his musical career. Cenk released his first solo album in the year 1991. From then on, he produced many albums in Turkey and became renowned as a composer, guitarist, arranger and producer. After his second solo album was released in the year 1996, he began to work on a new project which was aimed at an integration of heavy rock and electronic sounds into a synthesis of Eastern and Western music. The materialization of this new sound covered a long period of time during which he met first Pat Mastellotto (Mr. Mister and King Crimson) and then Kip Winger (Winger) - two musicians who had greatly inspired him previously in his music life. In 2001, he participated in the making of the album BPMM together with Pat Mastelotto, Robert Fripp, Tony Levin and Trey Gunn. By the time Cenk met Kip in 2002, he had finalized his new sound which he named Xcarnation. Inspired by the fruits of his work, Pat Mastellotto, Kip Winger, Rod Morgenstein (Winger / Dixie Dregs / Steve Morse) and Reb Beach (Winger / Dokken / Whitesnake) and many ethnic instrument players in Turkey made their artistic contributions to the songs in the album. As an outcome of Cenk's long musical journey, Xcarnation, all songs written, sung, arranged and engineered by Cenk Eroglu, is ready to meet the world market on September 19th 2005.

Sammy Hagar - Discography (1977-2002)

Sam Roy "Sammy" Hagar (born October 13, 1947), known as "The Red Rocker", is an American rock singer, guitarist, composer and solo artist. Hagar was the second of three singers for Van Halen, as well as the original singer of the early 1970s rock band Montrose. On March 12, 2007, Hagar was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. He has had the opportunity to work with some of hard rock's most famous guitarists including Eddie Van Halen, Ronnie Montrose, Neal Schon of Journey, and more recently, Joe Satriani. Outside of music, he is also well-known as the founder of the Cabo Wabo Tequila brand and restaurant chain. He currently resides in Mill Valley, California and also has a residence in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. His present musical project is as lead singer of a hard rock band called Chickenfoot.

After parting ways with vocalist David Lee Roth, the remaining members of the band Van Halen contacted many potential replacements. In July 1985, given Eddie Van Halen's appreciation of Montrose and his car mechanic's suggestion, the band auditioned and quickly hired Hagar to fill the opening. With Hagar at the front, Van Halen produced four multi-platinum, #1 Billboard charting albums: 5150, OU812, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, and Balance, as well as many chart hits, including nine #1 Mainstream Rock hits. Internal disputes eventually led to Hagar's departure from the band in June 1996. Hagar disagreed with a decision to record two new tracks for the soundtrack to the film Twister, after the band had agreed to take time off following their 1995 world tour. Hagar was also opposed to the issuance of a greatest hits record at that point in the band's career. These two items were pushed by Van Halen's new manager Ray Danniels, Alex Van Halen's brother-in-law, brought in after the death of their longtime manager Ed Leffler. Hagar wanted instead to record a new studio album, but only after Eddie, Alex, and Hagar's pregnant wife had all dealt with their respective medical issues. Although there are several versions of how the split occurred, Hagar has stated that the final straw came when he was with his wife in Hawaii, where they had arranged for a natural delivery of the baby (meaning outside of a hospital), and Eddie wanted him back in the studio in California. Hagar claimed to have flown to Los Angeles with his wife only to discover that she couldn't fly back to Hawaii. In the ensuing argument, he claims that he was fired. Eddie, on the other hand, says that Hagar quit. The end came when Eddie started to work with former lead singer David Lee Roth instead of Hagar, and two new songs were made with Roth for Best of Volume I. When Van Halen again parted ways with Roth, instead of rehiring Hagar, the band hired a new singer, Gary Cherone.

Sammy Hagar - I never Said Goodbye (1987)
The only solo album released while Hagar was a member of Van Halen. The album was recorded in ten days as a contractual obligation to Geffen Records as a condition of his leaving the label to join Van Halen and their record label, Warner Bros. Records. It is also sometimes known as Sammy Hagar, and some pressings even left it simply titled Sammy Hagar, but it is not the same album as his 1977 self-titled release.

The album was originally titled Sammy Hagar, and included an untitled cover. The album was re-named I Never Said Goodbye, the name being chosen as part of an MTV promotional contest.
It features Eddie Van Halen on bass. In an interview, Eddie said he also played a very brief part on guitar uncredited. The songs "Give to Live" and "Eagles Fly" were also performed live by Van Halen together with Hagar. "Give To Live" also topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1987, a first for Hagar as a solo artist. The former song was included on the album Live: Right Here, Right Now, the latter on the optional Bonus Disk as well as on the "Jump" single.

Sammy Hagar - Marching To Mars (1997)
Evidently, being kicked out of Van Halen revitalized Sammy Hagar, since Marching to Mars is among his best solo albums. A lean, tough collection of by-the-books hard-rockers, Marching to Mars stands out because of its immediate sound and Hagar's sense of purpose. He's out to prove himself, to illustrate that he wasn't just Van Halen's mouthpiece or a blowhard. Subtlety still remains a weak point with Hagar, but he's rarely sounded quite as convincing as he does here, tearing through a set of surprisingly well-written songs with such guest artists as Huey Lewis, Slash, Mickey Hart, and Bootsy Collins. This record is one of his strongest, and with bluesy cuts like "Little White Lie," it's also one of his more ambitious.

Sammy Hagar - Red Voodoo (1999)
Red Voodoo is a Sammy Hagar and The Waboritas album. When Sammy finished touring behind his Marching To Mars album, he took the band from that tour and recorded this record.

When Sammy Hagar's 11 years with Van Halen came to an end, he delivered some of the best solo albums of his career. The rocker's post-Van Halen albums weren't much different from his pre-Van Halen albums of the late '70s and early to mid-'80s â?? Hagar was still playing the type of commercial hard rock and arena rock that put him on the map, and he was doing so with a lot of conviction. The Californian was in his early fifties when Red Voodoo came out in 1999, but it hardly sounds like the work of someone who was mellowing with age. Ballsy, in-your-face rockers like "Mas Tequila" (which incorporates Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll, Part 2"), "Don't Fight It (Feel it)," "Shag," and the AC/DC-ish "High and Dry Again" and are oozing with confidence â?? -in fact, it's almost as though Hagar is shaking his fist at theVan Halen brothers and letting them know that he can do quite well without them, thank you. To some proponents of '90s alternative rock, Hagar and other arena rock veterans were anachronistic â?? and, to be sure, this CD won't win any awards for being innovative or groundbreaking. Nonetheless, Red Voodoo is among the most passionate, focused, and inspired albums of Hagar's career.

Sammy Hagar - Not 4 Sale (2002)
Not 4 Sale is a Sammy Hagar and The Waboritas album. As the album was released on Sammy's own "Cabo Wabo Music" label, problems arose on the distribution level. The release date passed without copies being delivered to several national retail chains.

You've got to hand it to Sammy Hagar for proving the Van Halen brothers wrong. When he exited the group in 1997, Alex and Eddie blamed Hagar's supposed lack of 'work ethic' as the main reason for the downfall of Van Hagar. But during the subsequent years immediately after the split, Hagar issued a total of four studio albums, while Van Halen could only muster one â?? the horrible misfire Van Halen III. And while Van Halen seemed quite unsure what they wanted to do musically, Hagar stuck to his guns â?? issuing such classic Hagar-esque releases as 2002's Not 4 Sale. By this point in his career, Hagar knows he's playing to the already converted â?? no point in trying to win over the young pop worshipping whippersnappers â?? so there are few surprises here. "Stand Up" and "Halfway to Memphis" are exactly what you'd expect from Hagar, while the Led Zeppelin tribute, "Whole Lotta Zep," gives the listener the feeling that they've just walked into Cabo Wabo on the night of a hot Hagar-led jam. With quite a few rock veterans trying to update their sound with modern touches and failing miserably come the early 21st century, Hagar wisely sticks to his bread and butter on Not 4 Sale.

2 guys From Petra - Vertical Expressions (2007)

2 guys From Petra - Vertical Expressions (2007)
At the time of Petra's retirement at the end of 2005, the future was unclear for Bob and John. Both were pursuing other ventures outside of the music business when Bob received an invitation from Canada to lead worship for a youth retreat. Bob immediately thought of teaming with John, much to the delight of the sponsors. As Bob began arranging popular worship songs for the duo to perform, it became obvious that it wouldn't be much harder to make an album together. After several months of work it was time to christen the new venture. Should they call themselves Bob and John...or Schlitt and Hartman? They elected to call themselves what they suspected people would call them inevitably..."Oh...that's two guys from Petra"!

* There were three songs that didn't make it into the album or DVD. This were "Judas' Kiss", "Lord I Lift Your Name on High" and "C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N". The first two were cut to save space, while the latter wasn't intended to be in the CD. "Just something for fun we threw in" as Hartman said.

* During one of the takes of Hartman's guitar solo, he broke a string. While he was fixing it, Paul Simmons delivered an impromptu drum solo. To the dismay of fans of the band, this was also cut from the album and DVD. As the president of Inpop Records said "That was really spontaneous, if you remember... We did not get a clean run at it."
